What started as a friendly bet over a game of NRL football between the sharks and the Rabbitohs, has come back to bite a user off the atomic forums. This morning a user by the name of Nodnerb appeared in Pitt Street (Inner City Sydney) in a tutu performing a rendition of ‘I’m a little Teapot’. It didn’t stop there however. When the bet was lost online people started to think of ways to make it more interesting, and soon a charity was brought on board (MS) and people began pledging money. Sunrise, the most popular morning TV show in Australia was contacted, and they agreed to do a segment. All of a sudden this small bet had grown to be seen by possibly over a million people on TV. Well this morning he pulled it off on national TV.

About a month ago, I was brainstorming a mission idea with a few friends called “Five Star Fast Food�. The idea was to deck out a fast food joint with all the trappings of a five star restaurant. There would be a Maitre D’ standing behind a podium asking for your reservation, a hostess to seat you, a waiter to take your order, and an attendant in the bathroom. The obvious problem with this idea is that it would very likely be shut down as soon as it begins. I decided to focus on the bathroom attendant aspect, figuring that we could last much longer in a secluded men’s room.

Homestarrunner (Big online site, supports two people for a living through mechandise alone) have released a humourous trailer for a trogdor movie. Trogdor was a dragon created by Strongbad in one of the early stongbad emails. Personally I dont think this movie trailer lives up to the original flash, but this stil has its moments. As you’ve probably noticed the site has changed a fair bit over the past few weeks. First of all the whole site changed from the old style page (the orange one) to the version 2 of the site. We think (and hopefully you agree) that it looks a lot cooler. It was hand coded and should run faster then the old one. Some stuff has gone, such as the gallery, some stuff has moved, such as the shoutbox, and some stuff has appeared, such as a new editor called Doc. If anyone else would like to be considered an editor feel free to contact me (admin at sandstorming dot com). Two nights ago, however, the second part of the update kicked in. Its more subtle, the site looks much the same, but it now handles a little differently. Before the image page was a bit of a PHP code knockup… it didn’t look like the rest of the site… and was pretty assy (its a word i swear). All the flash files and videos were stuck in a directory listing… you didnt know what you were getting, kind of like getting a hooker over the phone.
All our content is now much better managed. We’ve got a section for text stuff… a section for movies… a section for games. In the next 48 hours they’ll be one for audio too. Some of it we’re rating… some of it we’re defining… all of it we’re explaining. You’ll now know what everything is! If you see a cool movie, flash, some news or anything you want us to cover, let us know in the shoutbox. We might just do it. What can you do for us I here you cry?

I’ve been putting up a fair bit lately on the suing of many torrent sites, and its often in the news how cruel and heartless some of these big companies are being, suing girls as young as 12 for downloading music. There are people out there however doing things to defend your rights. The biggest of whom of course is the EFF. These guys are pretty big. They run on donations, yet they have a team of laywers and volenteers, and donations in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Downhill battle, who seem to take a less legal approach to the whole situation, have an interesting flyer on just how little profit reaches artists.
