Disobey Warning Signs and Earn Millions

Philip Dederer, who was 14 when a dive off a bridge with a “no diving” sign left him paralysed, has won more than $1 million in damages.

Mr Dederer, now 20, sued the Roads and Traffic Authority and the Great Lakes Shire Council in the NSW Supreme Court after he was paralysed in a diving accident off the Forster/Tuncurry Bridge into the Wallamba River on December 31, 1998.

Mr Dederer, from Newcastle, claimed the RTA and the council were negligent despite there being signs prohibiting diving, because the signs did not say diving was dangerous.

Justice John Dunford agreed and today awarded Mr Dederer $1,050,000 in damages.

This shits me. There isn’t enough money to employ more Doctors and Nurses, there is homeless on the streets… and the problems go on and on. Ok… i feel sorry for the guy. Hes in a wheelichair for the rest of his life, he deserves some sympathy. But for fucks sake, when did people stop being accountable for their own actions. A sign said “Do not jump off the bridge.” and he did. Nuff said.
