The Bali 9, sacrificed by the Australian Government.
It’s common knowledge that the Australian Federal Police tipped off the Balinese officials, who in turn arrested the 9 in Denpasar Airport and a Kuta Hotel. What many people do not question is WHY?Why, it seems, the Australian government allowed people who they knew would be coming into Australia with the drugs, allowed Balanese police to apprehend them, and in turn have them face the DEATH penalty, instead of the simple jail time sentence.
In the rush to “aid” Indonesia in the post tsunami disaster, it seems the Australian government is willing to give up peoples lives, to illustrate our willingness to co-operate with underprivileged and “BLATANTLY” corrupt policing bodies in Bali.
The Federal Police have well and truly left Australians to die. Not only could they have prevented their aprehension and caught them when they came onto Australian soil, but they allowed them to be captured by a country which has one of the harshest penatlies for drug smuggling on the globe.
The fate of the Bali 9 is soon to be sealed, and they have no-one to thank but the Australian Federal Police. [Source]

I have sympathy for the Bali 9. But I disagree with the views presented in this article.
Police use taxpayers’ money to investigate crimes. Some of the Bali 9 are repeating offenders and all of them are adults with ability to judge between right and wrong.

Yes, disappointing that Australian police will be responsible for the executions that will likely go ahead.
I don’t see how your point on corruption in Bali is of any relevance - they were all caught with the evidence. As was Schapelle. The proof was there.

Think of it this way, that is 9 drug dealers off the streets!
