Free Mashups for All

July 28th, 2005 at 10:50 pm by admin (Online)

We (or at least Doc and I) love our mashups here at sandstorming. Contrary to popular ignorance, they were not made up by novaFM. There is a few good sites around but the latest one I stumbled upon through digg seems to be the best yet. It’s forum based, but registration is not required. Seeming though anyone can submit there is plenty of crap you have to wade through, but its worth it for the sheer amount of Gold tracks on there.

If you are looking just for some quality tracks, you can’t go past Dj Earworm. He’s the shit when it comes to mashups, and whilst he doesn’t have hundreds of them on his site, the quality is far superior to anywhere else.

List of RPG Game Cliches

July 28th, 2005 at 10:41 pm by admin (Humour)

The list is huuuuuuuuuge but even for someone who doesn’t play them (like me) it’s gold. It reminds me of games like Zelda and Mario I used to play on my gameboy when I was little, the entire list can be found here, and here are some of the ones I found more amusing:

The quality of goods in the world is dependent upon the shop’s distance from the final dungeon. It doesn’t matter if the town you start in has a huge thriving economy and is the center of world trade, it will always have the game’s worst equipment; and even if that village near the end is isolated and has only three people in it, it will have the game’s best equipment.

Any item that you can acquire will have some sort of purpose. Those that seem to be useless and have no practical value at all, always tend to have great power later on. The earlier you get the item, the later in the game it will be used. The longer the span of time between acquisition and use, the more powerful the item is.

Unless there’s a running countdown clock right there on the screen, you have as long as you want to complete any task — such as, say, rescuing a friend who’s hanging by one hand from a slippery cliff edge thousands of feet in the air — no matter how incredibly urgent it is. Dawdle or hurry as you will, you’ll always make it just in the nick of time.

Gold, silver, and other precious metals make excellent weapons and armor even though in the real world they are too soft and heavy to use for that purpose. In fact, they work so well that nobody ever melts their solid gold suit of armor down into bullion, sells it, and retires to a tropical isle on the proceeds.

Illegal Downloaders Buy More Music Online

July 27th, 2005 at 9:33 pm by admin (Online)

People who illegally share music files online are also big spenders on legal music downloads, research suggests. Digital music research firm The Leading Question found that they spent four and a half times more on paid-for music downloads than average fans. Rather than taking legal action against downloaders, the music industry needs to entice them to use legal alternatives, the report said.

According to the music industry, legal downloads have tripled during 2005. In the first half of 2005, some 10 million songs have been legally downloaded.

July 26th, 2005 at 2:05 pm by admin (Around the World, Humour)

Kitsack CondomsFleshbot is linking to a Japanese online site that sells condoms. These aren’t your usual condoms though… unless you expect to see happy smiling monkeys sitting on your Durex packaging.

In all seriousness, they look more like cookies for 6 year-olds then condoms!

Family Guy Movie Leaked 2 Months Early (with screenshots)

July 25th, 2005 at 9:24 pm by Doc (Movies, Television)

For those of you who can’t wait till September to get a glimpse at just how hilarious Seth MacFarlane’s humour can be when untamed by the brutal censorship whips of the FCC, Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story has now appeared on a number of torrent tracking websites, and apparently it’s the real deal.

Yes, that’s right. Somehow the uncensored, straight-to-DVD movie has been released to the world of P2P sharing, more than 2 months before the official release date! Mad <3 to whoever did it, and just hope you don’t get caught.

Sorry Seth! We’ll still buy the DVD though! We in no way endorse downloading this at all. It was DVD sales that brought Family Guy back from its cancelled doom… so support the movie all the more when it’s released on DVD!

And now to go find myself a pair of clean pants – ones that don’t have a suspicious wet patch on them. What! I was excited, okay!?

Neheheheheh…. I’m priceless.

Please do NOT post any links to where these illegal files can be found on the internet. Sandstorming does not condone piracy in any form.

UPDATE: Slyck is running a news story about the origin of the file. It appears that the copy was ripped from a preview DVD. Check the article here.

Harry Potter Sex Scenes : For real!

July 25th, 2005 at 3:22 pm by admin (Humour)

” ‘There was no need to stick the wand in that hard,’ he said gruffly, clambering to his feet. ‘It hurt.’” (p. 64)

“Just as he raised a gloved hand to wipe them, Leanne made to grab hold of the package Katie was holding; Katie tugged it back and the package fell to the ground.” (p. 248)

“Very astute, Harry, but the mouth organ was only ever a mouth organ.” (p. 278)

“…a hole opened in the middle of all the tentaclelike branches; Hermione plunged her arm bravely into this hole, which closed like a trap around her elbow; Harry and Ron tugged and wrenched at the vines, forcing the hole to open again, and Hermione snatched her arm free, clutching in her fingers a pod just like Neville’s… the gnarled stump sat there looking like an innocently dead lump of wood.” (p. 281)
