My (very casual) iPod Nano Review
After 3 days of being screwed around by the courier company my black ipod nano arrived today.
I’d read in a few reviews that you won’t believe how small it is until you get it… you won’t.
It’s frucking tiny. Smaller than any phone I’ve ever seen… and about as thin as a 48 page exercise book. It’s about the length of my index finger long… and two thumbnails wide. And my hands aren’t big.
Despite the small size the high resolution of the screen makes it ok, and unless you have trees for fingers, the scroll wheel is easily workable.
I managed to crash it the first time I plugged it in my computer. Oops. But restarting it was easy, and since then I have had no problems. Maybe I should have followed the instructions.
It comes with a software CD, USB cable, headphones, headphone ear pieces, dock adapter, manual all tied up in the sexiest black packaging you’ve ever seen.
The transfer via USB2 is fast. About a song a second, and with iTunes it’s such a piece of piss to update too.
I love you Steve Jobs, and I love our new baby 2.
5 / 5
EDIT: Just to clarify a few things… mines a 4 gig model (the larger of the two). ATM it’s got 409 songs on it, but to it’s defence at least 4 of them are entire CD’s in one audio track… and it’s about 80% full. It’s more space than I need, as I can easily refill it wherever I am with my laptop.

Looks good, just don’t use the white ear buds: they make you look like a gimp and one with too much money at that.

Man, I never got a good idea as to how small it actually was until your picture spelled it out clearly for me.

I’m glad they’re teaching you how to spell at the “rael” uni as well. :P
By the way, what makes the iPod so shit?

Battery gone after like a year. Just randomly freezes and then cant be turned back on until the battery dies. Just stops working for no reason. Sister has none of these problems with her iriver.
Mis-spelling…still doesnt take away from the fact that qut is big tafe

The battery problem was only in the early generations of the iPod… and apple is replacing them out of their pocket - Link

That’s easily fixed by just resetting it. And no you don’t lose your data.

i really want one of these ipod nano’s
i like the black the best im just worried that it would snap in my pocket if i leaned to far forward to tie my shoelace or something
but thats just me being paranoid
i cant see people wanting the ipod mini or shuffle now
no wonder there so eager to give them away with popular packets of crisps all over the world?

Don’t. They ran over one with a car and it kept on going. They’re solid as anything. If it snaps… you’ve done something very stupid with it.

yeah only if you manage to throw it up bout 20ft in the air will it break,
PUNK ROCKS! there short songs so i can hold loads, i have 620 songs(about 30-60 are short funny quotes from h*r) and i only have taken up 1.2GB on my comp, and using stuff like apple lossless, i’d have like a million songs :P

To solve the problem - reset it by holding the Menu button and the center button at the same time for about six seconds. The Apple logo appears. After that, it should be fine. No data is lost at all, and it oughta work just fine with iTunes recognizing it, etc.

i’m 11, and i was just searching google on how to fix the stupid freezing thing. by the way, i dont exactly agree with the fact of how small it is. when i looked at it first in the box it seemed quite small, but once you get used to it, its not THAT small. and to whoever who said that no one wants an iPod mini anymore, they stopped making the iPod mini or else i’d've gotten that one. if you ask me the iPod nano is a rip-off. People these days buy iPods even if they dont listen to music because of stupid trend. I bought and iPod cause it plays pretty good. The iPod nano is a rip-off in comparison to the iPod mini: the iPod mini 4 gig is $199 whereas the ipod nano 2 gig is also $199. they make it like this because the nano has color and holds photos. They’re not going to make black and white iPods anymore. i find the whole “color” portion quite useless. thank you -lokicat- for helping me fix my sorry excuse of an ipod. If you ask me, a good iPod would be the 20 gig black and white, but sadly, i’m 11, live in new york and dont have an allowance so the 8.6-something tax itself added about 20 bucks to my $199 iPod. life sucks so lets just shrivel up and die. by the way. the iPod nano doesn’t hold many songs either. (just because i’m 11 doesn’t mean i’m not into alot of music: i have too many bands to name but some popping into my head are SYSTEM OF A DOWN, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE -their new album rocks, but its getting a bit overplayed- THE STROKES, METALLICA, ADAM & ANDREW -not really a band, but theyre funny- ARMOR FOR SLEEP -they’re only okay- and for the first band i ever really got into: SMASHMOUTH -i was six-) so thnx anyway and i’m sorry for writing this whole big thing. lolz.

Tara, cut the crap with the long, un-understandable “paragraph.” If you think it’s crap, then why did you buy it? There’s other mp3 players too. Quit that “lolz” crap too…
