David Copperfield says he plans to impregnate a girl on stage - without even touching her. Speaking to German magazine Galore, the illusionist rejected the theory that there were only seven different kinds of magic tricks. He said: "Bull s**t! There is a great deal of new territory to conquer. In my next show I’m going to make a girl pregnant on stage." He added: "Naturally it will be without sex. Everyone will be happy about it, but I’m not telling you any more." The magician is currently on tour in Germany with his show, An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion.

The 40 greatest magazine covers of the last 40 years were unveiled today at the American Magazine Conference (AMC) 2005 at the Wyndham El Conquistador in Puerto Rico, by Mark Whitaker, President of American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) and Editor of Newsweek magazine, and AMC Chairman Evan Smith, Editor of Texas Monthly.
Rolling Stone’s January 22, 1981 cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono was named the top magazine cover to appear since 1965, while Vanity Fair’s cover featuring a naked, pregnant Demi Moore (August 1991), ranked as the # 2 cover. The # 3 cover from Esquire’s April 1968 issue depicted Muhammad Ali with six arrows in his body. Three Esquire covers were ranked among the top 10 covers of the past four decades, while The New Yorker had two covers among the top 10.

Worth1000 have one of their best photoshop challenges on at the moment and are encouraging people to photoshop corporate companies and advertising into everything that moves, kind of similar to what’s happening in the world anyway. All of these are very well done, and most of them brought a grin to my face.

IGN has one of the first reviews online for the new Doom movie starring The Rock. Now, as much as all the trailers wanted me to stab my eyes out with a chainsaw, as the first person perspective looked like it was just a computer game, IGN seems to think they did a pretty good job of it:
Obviously, there will be two camps of people attending Doom: those who have played an installment of the storied (and at times much-maligned) game franchise, and those who have not. Those who have played Doom are likely to understand what makes the film cool, and those who have not might miss the boat. One thing is certain: Doom the movie makes a huge effort to stick to the things that make the game so popular: the first person perspective, the buckets of gore, and the gnarly weapons. These things are in abundance in the big screen adaptation, and they all delight.
Unfortunately, some of the other things that are present in the game are in ample supply in the movie as well: thin character development, cheesy dialogue and lack of story. That said, this is easily the best videogame-to-film adaptation yet (only the original Resident Evil approaches its production value), and a decent albeit standard action film if taken with a grain of salt.
The reason for the film’s modest success is that for the most part it honors its source material. Early rumors indicated that the film would not be set on Mars, the traditional site for Doom adventures, but this was corrected and ultimately well-implemented in the film. In fact, the transport to and from Earth to Mars becomes a central plot point throughout the film, and the effects involved in the transport are easily the best in the movie.

A synthetic chemical similar to the active ingredient in marijuana makes new cells grow in rat brains. What is more, in rats this cell growth appears to be linked with reducing anxiety and depression. The results suggest that marijuana, or its derivatives, could actually be good for the brain.
In mammals, new nerve cells are constantly being produced in a part of the brain called the hippocampus, which is associated with learning, memory, anxiety and depression. Other recreational drugs, such as alcohol, nicotine and cocaine, have been shown to suppress this new growth. Xia Zhang of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, and colleagues decided to see what effects a synthetic cannabinoid called HU210 had on rats’ brains.
They found that giving rats high doses of HU210 twice a day for 10 days increased the rate of nerve cell formation, or neurogenesis, in the hippocampus by about 40%.

The result: you discover music you like with almost every new song, as well as hearing old favourites. I’m absolutely addicted. Check it out now!

UPDATE: She got her sentence cut by 5 years today
It’s been just over a year since Australian Schapelle Corby was arrested in Bali for smuggling in 4.1kg of marijuana in her unlocked boogie-board bag. It was a media circus in Australia. People boycotted Bali for their holidays, crazys offered to take her place in prison and huge demonstrations (of 10 people) happened in many major cities. When she was awarded 20 years in prison and escaped the death penalty it continued for a few more days as people compained about how hard done by she was.
It was May when the sentence was handed down, and now four months later, no one gives a rats ass. Hell, even my Schapelle Corby shirts have stopped selling! When people realised that she wasn’t going to make a FHM photo shoot, people stopped caring about the little model who couldn’t.
