US PRESIDENT George W Bush believes God told him to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a senior Palestinian official. The BBC yesterday released an excerpt from an interview with Palestinian Information Minister Nabil Shaath - part of a series called Israel and the Arabs.
Shaath described his first meeting, in company with Palestinian Prime Minister Abu Mazen, in June 2003. "’President Bush said to all of us: ‘I’m driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan. And I did. "’And then God would tell me, George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq. And I did.
"’And now, again, I feel God’s words coming to me: Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East. And by God I’m gonna do it.’" Abu Mazen told the BBC that, at the same meeting, Bush told him: "I have a moral and religious obligation. So I will get you a Palestinian state."

The video off CNNN pretty much sums up what the general public seems to be feeling for Americans at the moment. Before anyone from America (ok the ‘US’) gets too angry, YES this is a huge generalisation, but I think the video shows just how self-centred some Americans are.
P.S, no we don’t ride kangaroos. Yes, drop bears are a problem.

This is a fascinating article on how we will evolve over time… providing Bush doesn’t kill us all. The author first looks at the stages of a species evolving, beginning with where we are working his way through to a species in multiple galaxies drawing their power directly from the sun.
The second part looks at how we could go about exploring other galaxies. This I found particually interesting:
"A Von Neumann probe is a robot designed to reach distant star systems and create factories which will reproduce copies themselves by the thousands. A dead moon rather than a planet makes the ideal destination for Von Neumann probes, since they can easily land and take off from these moons, and also because these moons have no erosion. These probes would live off the land, using naturally occurring deposits of iron, nickel, etc. to create the raw ingredients to build a robot factory. They would create thousands of copies of themselves, which would then scatter and search for other star systems."

I’m surprised noone has ever thought to do this before, but this guy has remixed trailers in order to make them feel very different from the actual movie. This is quite ironic considering how often trailers seem to have a different idea to the actual movie, mainly due to the fact a seperate company often produces the trailer. Check them out, this guy is really good…

This could be the start of some real momentum against the coercive and (arguably) extortionary RIAA lawsuits. A mother in Oregon, Tanya Anderson, fits in between the 13,000th and 14,000th lawsuit victim, with the notable distinguishing fact that she has counter-sued the RIAA for fraud, invasion of privacy, abuse of process, electronic trespass, violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, negligent misrepresentation, and deceptive business practices.
The list of assertions is extensive (and extensively repetitious, which I suppose is the lawyer’s way of covering every point from evey angle. A few excerpts follow. (By the way, the assertions mention MediaSentry, allegedly a software tool used by the RIAA to spy on Anderson’s computer, no fewer than 11 times. That’s either great or damning publicity.)
