Corby’s up the proverbial creek, without even a body board to float on.
Australia’s newest favourite drug family, the Corby’s, have just made another appearance in the media today and will undoubtedly be in newspapers and “general interest” magazines before the week is out.
Schapelle’s brother, James Sioeli Kisina (yes, he is her brother) was arrested yesterday, along with two other men, after police investigations into a break-and-enter on Brisbane’s Southside on Tuesday.
As Schapelle’s case was in court, there were numerous newspapers and television shows making the claim that her father and brother were heavily involved in drug crimes, however very few people seemed to take any notice and still maintained that she was innocent.
The brilliant thing about this new problem in the Corby family isn’t the fact that James is pretty much stuffed, but the REASONING behind why he was in the house.
James claims that he “was only attending in the house because he was given information which led him to believe that the occupants were drug dealers” and that he was only there to find out information that would help his sister’s case.
It seems that there isn’t a lot trust in James’ claim (wonder why?), so there is a chance that he may actually try and say that the drugs found in Schapelle’s body board bag belonged to him, allowing his sister to go free.
On a completely unrelated note, Schapelle’s jail sentence has been increased by another 5 years.
To those unaware, Corby, 28, was found guilty last May of smuggling 4.1 kilograms of marijuana into Bali in a boogie board bag. Last October her lawyers successfully argued for her sentence to be reduced to 15 years.
Corby then launched another appeal against the conviction, which judges rejected last week.
The judges have instead upheld a prosecution counter-appeal against the leniency of the 15-year sentence.
The Supreme Court has ordered the drugs to be destroyed - a sign that this is the end of Corby’s official avenues of appeal.
One of Corby’s lawyers, Erwin Siregar, says he has heard about the ruling.
“I have only heard that an appeal verdict was issued by the Supreme Court which reinstated the 20-year jail sentence,” he said.
“I have not yet received a copy of the verdict and therefore cannot comment more than that.”
I must admit, I believed in Corby’s innocence when the case first received major publicity. However, the recent revelations has made me give some serious thought to my position on the case.
I’ve actually started to care less about the case and more about when there is going to be a dysfunctional family television show, loosely based on the Corby’s and their drug related lives.

The stupidity of this trio (James,Matthew and Shane) amazes me. Heard of research?
What the hell did they think they were going to get out of this? Do they think every dealer in Qld is somehow connected to international smuggling?
They’ve gone an bashed a good mate, destroyed a home, and possibly ruined the lives of some harmless people with unwanted attention and eventually charges.
Tards.
