Doc and myself have an ongoing joke in real-life. We’re both huge Matrix fans, and after seeing the mistake that was Matrix: Revolutions, we now blatantly refuse that movie exists. It’s amazing how many people will begin to believe you if you continue to be adamant that the third movie hasn’t been made.
Pointless Waste of Time has an article on the Top 10 Sci-Fi Movies that were never made, and it looks like they agree with Doc and I. Also on the list, suggestions for better versions of: Star Wars, Doom, Aliens 3 and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

This is not a Blimp. It’s a sort of flying Queen Mary 2 that could change the way you think about air travel. It’s the Aeroscraft, and when it’s completed, it will ferry pampered passengers across continents and oceans as they stroll leisurely about the one-acre cabin or relax in their well-appointed staterooms.
Unlike its dirigible ancestors, the Aeroscraft is not lighter than air. Its 14 million cubic feet of helium hoist only two thirds of the craft’s weight. The rigid and surprisingly aerodynamic body—driven by huge rearward propellers—generates enough additional lift to keep the behemoth and its 400-ton payload aloft while cruising. During takeoff and landing, six turbofan jet engines push the ship up or ease its descent.

Ahh, Valentine’s Day, aka Singles’ Awareness Day. Obligatory love-related article follows…
I was reading a book a few years ago entitled How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You by Leil Lowndes (1996), half out of curiousity, half out of quiet desperation. Anyways… one of the most interesting excerpts I found was this:
A Quiz: Who Loves More, Men or Women?
Men suffer a bad rap for being less romantic than women. Naturally, if you do a survey of men or women at the mall asking “Who’s more romantic?” the majority will say women. At first glance, the evidence is pretty overwhelming that women are the romantics. Indeed, they are when it comes to saying “I love you,” remembering Valentine’s Day, and knowing “it’s the little things that count” (like an engagement ring). But when it comes to the truly deep and important definition of romance, you men are the big winners.
At some point in your life, gentlemen, the woman of your dreams will probably say accusingly (in response to one of your everyday “insensitive” remarks) that “you men are all alike! You’re so unromantic!” My gift to you is the following. Someday it will come in handy, in self-defense. I’ve packaged it neatly in the form of a quiz that you can give her when she calls you unromantic.
Who really is capable of loving more, men or women? Read the rest of this entry »

Pamela Anderson will film a cameo in the new ‘Baywatch’ movie. The sexy star, who shot to fame playing a lifeguard in the hit TV series, will make a guest appearance in the big screen adaptation of the show. Rumours had been rife Pammy would star in the movie, but it is now been revealed the original female cast - which included Carmen Electra and Traci Bingham - will be replaced by a younger crop of beauties.
Director Eli Roth said: ‘Pammy and the original cast will most likely do cameos in the movie. But for the main cast, they want to go with a new crop of hotties. The other producers spoke to Pamela about it and she said she’d love to do a cameo. For me it wouldn’t be ‘Baywatch’ without her.’ Meanwhile, ‘Baywatch’ creator David Hasselhoff has revealed the new film will include crime-fighting lifeguards. He said: ‘It will be set in different locations around the world. There will be lifeguards who are also sent on crime-busting sprees.’
Comment: Lifeguards who are sent around the world on crime-busting sprees? You have got to be kidding!

This car by Shuanghuan Motors. It’s a complete blatant rip-off of the Honda CR-V although only in exterior design. The interior is damn chapalang the last time I saw it. Couldn’t find photos of it for this post. The engine’s using a very old Toyota engine, probably old stocks. Shuanghuan also ripped off Audi’s 4 rings to use as it’s logo. It’s using 2 rings instead.

This photo appeared in the Washington Post with the caption of:
Lt. Gen. Keith B. Alexander, director of the National Security Agency, and William Marshall, another NSA official, give President Bush a tour of the super-secret agency’s headquarters in Fort Meade, Md.
Now you might wonder why that’s such a big deal. So Bush is visiting a “super-secret headquarters“. Funny name aside, that is kind of what the military does. What is funny is the cool looking display behind him. It’s actually a website on the internet called Security Wizardry, run by volunteers around the world. It has NOTHING to do with the US military in the slightest!

This image shows the extent of submarine fibre optic cables that now lie on the bottom of the oceans around the world. Shows just how small our connection in Oz really is!

A mysterious black box has been found on Google Maps in Russia. I wonder what it could be?
Digg users have provided some suggestions. With spelling and grammar corrected, here are the good ones…
- In an attempt to hide the biggest dildo in the world, the Russians ironically gave away it’s location.
- It’s Petoria! (nice Family Guy reference.)
- Osama’s hideout.

As a result of all the changes to Sandstorming, it has been harder to keep an accurate track of the site’s traffic data from last year, and I was unsure how I was going to approach this article because of this.
One thing that we have been able to track though is the number of comments. So, whilst these may not be the best or most viewed articles of last year, they’re certainly the ones that created the most response.
And why “Top 11″ you ask? Well I started writing the Top 10 ages ago, and one of the later articles from 2005 got a bit more popular and made it into the list. I didn’t want to delete my awesome journalistic efforts, so I just added one more.
Anyways, here it is. The Top 11 Sandstorming Articles of 2005. Enjoy.
