Interesting Domain Statistics
This website has an interesting array of statistics on domain names. It shows various stats such as the number of domain names registed for each number of characters. A few of the more interesting stats:
- The most common number or characters for a domain name is 11 (sandstorming is 12)
- 268,971 domains contain the word ’sex’, whilst only 143,683 contain ‘love’
- The most common letter to start a domain name with is ’s’ (Aren’t we cool!)
- All single 2 and 3 digit combination of .com domains have been registered, and almost 80% of 4 character names
- There are 538 .com domains that are 63 characters long
- 100% of the top 10,000 family names are registered
