| Firstly... a space elevator now looks a step closer. For those of you that don't know what it is... it is an elevator that stretches from the earth's surface into space. I can hear you snickering already... but I am deadly serious. A lot of people's time and money is already going into developing the idea. Basically a ribbon cable... a few metres wide and thinner then paper will stretch from somewhere around the equator all the way into space. More info can be found here and here and here and here. Whilst I am on the subject of breaking news, a mathmetician claims to have solved the Poincare Conjecture. This was one of several millium maths problems set, which has a reward of one million dollars if his answer proves correct. There is one small problem... if he is correct, it becomes possible to predict prime numbers... and the encryption most stuff on the net is based on... can be broken. Meanwhile closer to home... NSW inmates are injecting themselves with spider venom in order to get themselves high. How stupid can you get. I suppose they have a lot of time on their hands. I had my maths exam today... and walked out the most confident I ever have from a maths exam. We shall see when the results turn up. I'm now on a 7 day weeked... giving me the next 3 days... and then sunday... to churn out a 2 minute art film. I am really worried it is not going to have enough of my own footage. We shall see. I made a list of 4 possible things I could do on my phone about 4 months back. The fourth one I decided could really screw up my life if I attempted it. And now I am thinking seriously about it. Circumstances have changed though. We shall see. 47 minutes until Ben turns 18. Happy Birthday Ben! |
