Last time we visited Orange County, Caleb had just carked it, Kirsten was sent off to rehab for being an alcho, Jimmy and Julie decide to get back together again, and Ryan found out that his brother Trey tried to rape Marissa.
As a result of this, Ryan went over to Trey’s apartment to go Chino on his ass. Things went bad for Ryan (duh, never try and fight with your older brother. You learn that at age 3). Trey grabbed a telephone and was about to call long distance on Ryan’s face, until Marissa popped a cap in Trey’s back. Trey turned around with an OMGWTF look on his face before collapsing on the floor. *FADE TO BLACK*
It was, admittedly, a damn good ending to a fairly mediocre season.

Lets see if this show can get any more incestuous, as well as keeping up the illusion that these twenty-something actors are supposed to be in high school.
The third season of The O.C. premieres in the US on 8 September, 2005. No word yet on an Australian air date.
SEASON 3 SPOILERS
3.01 – The Aftermath
In the season three opener we start off with senior year starting in a few days. It has been a couple of months since the shooting. Trey has been in a coma all this time leaving the D.A. impatiently waiting for his side of the story. Feeling the pressure from the community the D.A. continues to put pressure on Ryan, Marisa, Seth, Summer and others for more information. Meanwhile Julie is steaming mad because Caleb’s accountant won’t give up the goods on Caleb’s will. Kirsten, still in rehab, forms a friendship with fellow recovering alcoholic Charlotte, who – like all things in the O.C. – may not be everything she appears to be.
3.02 – The Shape of Things to Come
Social Chair owner Marissa tries to plan this year’s carnival but is having much difficulty due to a little pest named Taylor. Sandy is surprised to find Kirsten has been released from rehab but instead of informing him, she has been living with another woman named Charlotte, by which she met in rehab. Julie and Sandy meet with the Dean and Dr. Kim to discuss Ryan and Marissa’s future at Harbor High. Later Ryan and Marissa partake in a similar meeting. Elsewhere Jimmy meets a man named Don at the Yatch Club’s bar and feels more than open to discuss his money problems with him.
3.03 – The End of Innocence
Jimmy must make once more the difficult decision to leave or stay with his family. Charlotte has to leave her house. Marissa, Ryan, and Sandy also appear in the episode.
3.04 – The Last Waltz
Marissa goes to Newport Union, a public school. At the end of the day, she meets Johnny Harper, a 17-year-old student who seems to like the beach and to skateboard. His girlfriend Casey and their friend Dennis “Chili” Childress joins them. Chili invites Marissa on a date but she says she already has a boyfriend. The next day, it’s “Newport Union Back to School Dance,” Marissa is unsure she should go. The news about the Trey shooting makes its way to Newport Union which crushes Marissa as she was hoping to get a fresh start. Johnny tries to cheer her up.
Kirsten is at the Cohen’s house and receives flowers from Charlotte. We will know more about Charlotte’s plans… Kirsten is also back at work at the Newport Group. Ryan may be getting a tutor (maybe to be taught at home). Julie has huge money problems. Taylor is in the episode (see ep 3.01).
3.05 – The Perfect Storm
Julie lives in some low rent motel. Marissa is still at Summer’s. Julie will look for a new place to stay. Sandy and Kirsten accompany Ryan at Harbor High as he goes from booth to booth to hear Universities and Colleges sweet talk him in studying at their institution. Dean Hess wants Ryan to leave as he is not to set foot at Harbor… Ryan gets a job on a boat that may have him leave town for a few weeks. Marissa still attends Newport Union. Seth, Charlotte and Johnny (see episode 3.04) also appear in the episode.
3.06 – The Swells
Seth helps Taylor put posters up in school. He also helps her out when an event she has organized doesn’t go has planned. Summer and Marissa are at the beach where some surfers are enjoying the swells. At the Newport Group, Sandy meets with businessman Kurt Williams and his protégé Mark Fish in order to hand over the company to them. Sandy will give them the Newport Group if they don’t destroy low-income properties by the beach. Later, there is a Lock-In at Taylor’s house. Seth and Ryan are there. Charlotte and Julie have dinner at the yatch club to talk over a charity event. Julie learns more about who Charlotte is… It seems the two of them are living together. Kirsten, Ryan, Casey, Johnny, Chili, as well as Taylor’s mom, Nancy Townsend, appear in the episode. The band “The Subways” may play at The Bait Shop.
Miscellaneous
Schwartz says, “Year three, for us, is going to be senior year, so obviously that’s a huge event in these kids’ lives, and for their parents as well. So we’ll be dealing with all sorts of things, like what does the future hold, college, graduation, all those kind of gigantic, kind of epic events in high school life.”
If her new show ‘Reunion’ flops, Amanda Righetti (Hayley) might come back.
According to O.C. executive producer Josh Schwartz, that shoot-out cliffhanger will be resolved very early on. He also says, the “core couples” will be back together this year, including Kirsten and Sandy, despite some drama from Jeri Ryan’s character whom he insists is not Single White Female-esque, and “It won’t be what you expect.”
Schwartz hints that Theresa might return. “She’s out there, man,” he says. “She’s definitely floating out there. And someone from the past is coming back. That’s for sure.”
Michael Cassidy won’t be back as Zach. “He’s off in Marin County working for Lucasfilm,” Josh Schwartz says.
We’re finally going to see the rest of Summer’s house. “All of the scenes will not be set in her bedroom this year,” he says. “You’ll see Summer’s kitchen, you’ll see Summer’s backyard - it’s gonna blow your mind.” One thing we won’t see: Summer’s infamous stepmonster. “She’s usually passed out on painkillers,” Schwartz points out. “She wouldn’t be much fun.”
Josh Schwartz says that after Marissa leaves, there will be a huge “power vacuum” at Harbor. “Taylor (Autumn Reeser) wants to take over not only the social chair, but the school,” he says. “And Summer is going to do her best to stand up for Marissa’s honor. It’s going to be really fun to see Summer back in bitch mode, not afraid to throw down and stand up for her friend.”
Josh Schwartz gave a little wink, wink, nudge, nudge that Anna very well could be back.
The news about Anna is probably the best IMHO. She was hawt, and went for geeks.

I think it is safe to say that while the ratings are still high, the show will go on. Even if the ratings lessened between seasons one and two, on Wednesday mornings the OC is all that is talked about - I think it is clear it is a popular show.
No date has been set as yet, as to when the OC will air in Australia; but I am guessing about March next year. It begins on the 8th of September in America.
Also, I think it is perfectly clear why America gets to view the show first.

It seems like a very long time since season 2 finished in Aus, and since it was being shown only a matter of weeks after the US were getting it, we have to wait until the ratings period to begin again in Aus which is around March (the end of summer).
So that’s why the new season is beginning in the US this week- summer has ended and the ratings period for tv has begun.
Obviously the US would get the show before Aus because it is an American product- based in the US- filmed and produced in the US- marketed at Americans.

i know its so sad that this will probably be the last season of the OC but you have to realise that it couldn’t go on forever, ryan would get old and yuky and so there would be no point in watching! but seriously, i can’t wait to see the third season, i hope its as good as the first season with a cliffhanger ending like the 2nd…. god i cant wait!

Fox only signs on for 1 season at a time. If this season does poorly, Fox must make the decision whether to buy another season, or cancel the show. It’s as simple as that.

THE OC WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO AUSTRALIAN TV UNTIL 2006.
Reason #1: The Australian television season has been defined by all networks and major advertisers as February-November. It’s a structure similar to that undertaken in the US. They use Summer to introduce some new programs and trial others.
Reason #2: The OC is one of channel 10’s big ratings earners, they are not going to waste new episodes by airing them before the new Australian television season (see reason #1).
Reason #3: There have been no advertisements at all for it. NONE. If it’s supposedly airing in 3 weeks, I find this a little odd.
Reason #4: If any of you had even bothered to go to the official Channel 10 website, you would have seen for yourself that The OC doesn’t appear at all in their 2005 line up. Hmmm, maybe there’s a connection here? Hmmm, maybe, just throwing this out there as a possibility, IT’S NOT FUCKING AIRING THIS YEAR!
Oh, and just incase things weren’t entirely clear there….

Look everyone, what anyone has said here about Sandy dying is not true and this is certainly not goin to be the last episode of the oc as the ratings are extremely high and many things are still to happen for example; Anna coming back, Ryan finding out about his child, Ryan and Marissa getting married, Lindsay coming back only to find her dad dead, Chad Michael Murray appearing on the show as Sandys and Rebeccas child to bring news that his mother is dead and he has come to live in Newport. Chad Micheal Murray won’t be appearing for a while. He have an interview and stated how he was waiting for One Tree Hill series 3 to finish and in the next series of The O.C he is appearing. IJosh, i think your idea of Rebecca’s death is a tad wierd but the connection between the son and his re-united father is inspiring. It appears you have decided to make Chad the new broody rebel, i researched that a conflict between chad and ben (ryan) is going to happen.
I look forward to it, Chad against Ben, i vote for Ben. I am intrested to see what happens though, great plan.

Why does that ’suck’ that Delta will be appearing on The OC next season? It’s doesn’t actually make a difference to you whether the character is a famous singer or not - Marissa’s cousin will be a total different personality. Besides, how can you knock such a beautifully talented, non-plastic artist such as Delta Goodrem? Charlotte and Julie have dinner at the yatch club to talk over a charity event. Julie learns more about who Charlotte is… It seems the two of them are living together. “The O.C.” closed its third season Thursday with a deadly twist. Marissa Cooper, played by Mischa Barton, was killed in a car crash.
Rumors flew in recent months that she was ready to leave “The O.C.”
Ryan was taking Marissa to the airport in his new SUV when they were antagonized at high speed by a drunken and vengeful Volchok, who they both had a history with. Volchok swigged from a flask as he chased the pair in his car.
Ryan lost control of the Land Cruiser and crashed, the vehicle rolling off the road. He pulled Marissa from the wreckage just before the vehicle caught fire.
There, on the side of the road, she died in his arms

I’m obsessed with the OC! So, apparently, in the US, the third season premiered on September 8, 2005, but when does it come out on DVD, because I missed tons of episodes, and I just love to be able to watch all the episodes in a row!!! And I am so syched if you guys aren’t lying about Marissa and Ryan getting married!!! they’re my favorite couple together (so cute), in season 1, I hated Theresa for taking Ryan, and In season 2, I hated Lindsay for taking Ryan! I don’t want Sandy to die!!! How does Kirsten take it? (I always thought sandy was cool)
Anyway, plzzzzz tell me when It comes out on DVD in the US if you know, because I’m dying to watch it!!! OC!!!!!

There is a Season 4 coming, they’ve already began filming……but at the moment there are only 16 eps that they are having for the whole Season, when usually they have a bout 24 eps.
The number of eps may increase, but for now Season 4 will only have 16 eps.

Hey everyone out there who agrees that its insane to kill Marissa, maybe in Season 4 she will not be dead after all, is there any hope? I just finished waching Season 1 and 2 in a row (took me bout 10 days to do so couldn eat sleep or do anything properly) and I cant wait for season 3 to come out but i mean knowing Marissa will die just spoils it sooo bad…Anyone out there knows if thers maybe any chance of Marissa being ALIVE after all?

I’ve read everything i can about the O.C on tons of websites and i know for a fact that Marissa died. they killed her off. has for there being more seasons i think they will but there going to lose alot of fans. because seriosly, how can they make it better after what happened at the end of 3rd season. marissa died and the other three are all going to seperate colleges. If you noticed that in the last eppisode Kaitlin comes back to stay so i think thry’re going to revolve the story around her and her friends now. kinda like a Marissa, Ryan, seth, summer thing. i think the o.c is going to such now.
